Better BioLEDs from a surprising source

It’s thrown away by the ton,” says Professor Andrew Steckl. “It’s natural, renewable and perfectly biodegradable.” Now there’s a biomaterial we hadn’t thought of, especially for Steckl’s intended purpose—BioLEDs, light emitting diodes that incorporate DNA thin films for improved efficiency, sustainability and economy.
