Apparently explosions from burst pipes aren’t just a hazard on the streets of New York. The California NanoSystems Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, was rocked by a pipe eruption Wednesday at noon. The explosion caused no injuries, but damaged two underground levels of the building. A two-gallon pool of what was believed to be liquid freon was seen on the floor and a hazardous materials team called to the scene determined there was no threat to personnel. Foul play was not suspected, but you have to wonder what those inside the building were thinking when it occurred.
