Fuel cell powered motorcycle approaching market
Intelligent Energy, makers of the ENV fuel cell-powered motorcycle (available late 2007), announced today that they have raised £8.5m from several investors. The bike, powered by a 1kW fuel cell, has a top speed of 50mph, a range of 100 miles, and a projected price of less than $5,000. The fuel cell is also removable, and can be used to power appliances around the home. Perhaps even more exciting is Boeing’s plan to conduct experimental flight tests this year of a manned light aircraft powered only by an Intelligent Energy fuel cell system and batteries.
